Lucknow. Keeping one’s mind and body active and in shape is important throughout one’s entire lives, but this is especially true in the current stressful times of the COVID-19 pandemic. A creative outlet like painting helps express our feelings and emotions without taking recourse to words, expands our visual horizons, enables our mind to remain young, dynamic and strong and gives a unique feeling of accomplishment.
Director, SGPGIMS, Prof RK Dhiman, conceptualized a poster making competition for children of the employees of the Institute, with the theme “Defeat COVID-19”.
The basic idea was to encourage the children to come up with novel pictorial ideas about awareness and prevention related to COVID-19. The competition held from 26th June-1st July 2020 saw an overwhelming response with nearly 250 participants.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on Monday at 6 PM at school of Telemedicine, SGPGIMS. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest, Suresh Kumar Khannaji, Minister, Medical Education and Parliamentary affairs, Govt of UP and Special Invitees Dr. Rajneesh Dube, Addl.Chief Secretary, Govt of U.P. Medical Education Deptt, LUCKNOW.

Hon’ble minister lauded the efforts made by children and appreciated their creativity. He said that children can be the best teachers and with their sharp mind and positivity can lead us in many situation.
SGPGI faculty and employees joined in on the zoom platform to encourage all prize winners and participants.
