Pathetic Condition of Ayurvedic colleges
We find the origin of Ayurveda in the Great Vedas. Ayurveda has a long history which considered be starting from Lord Dhanwantari and transferring through various monks to the present era. Sushruthacharya, Charakacharya, and Vagbatacharya are considered to be the founding fathers of modern Ayurveda. According to the available data, they travelled the length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent and they wrote down their findings for future generation and are called as Susrutha Samhita, Charaka Samhita, Ashtanga Hrudayam respectively. The great Susruthacharaya is renowned for his contribution to surgery called him as the “Father of surgery‘’
The modern study of Ayurveda is not restricted to these basics instead they come across different fields like Anatomy, Physiology, Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, and Pharmacology.
But the majority of ayurvedic colleges are working in pathetic conditions and the output of these colleges are the immediate cause of the ayurvedic deterioration. Except for certain Government and Private colleges most of the colleges are running it for purely profit cause. In today’s scenario, most of the lectures are on paper and they rarely come to the college this itself shows the apathy towards this great tradition system.
No one today are ready to give their full potential to achieve something instead everyone is looking for some short cut that gives result. But it will certainly reduce the relevance of the great system and it will wipe out from our society. This is the time to unite together for a better tomorrow and better India, for a better life.
Ayurveda is not a regressive science and the people who decide to study are not naive as well. Each of them is well-formed minds of India and they are expected to be the front runners of our ancient traditional medical system. But is our infrastructure capable enough to give high quality teaching? Most of our colleges are established for profit-making and the result of this will be precarious and pathetic college management and teaching infrastructure. This will affect the output regressively. This issue has to be addressed at most priority
Our nation’s pride rests on our tradition and Ayurveda can be considered to be the Kohinoor among them. To keep it live a good quality of infrastructure development has to be considered at the earliest.
The effect of each medicine are written in the text but in practice except for a few most of the students are unaware of the medical value and character of these medicines due to the lack of quality in teaching.
I have hands-on experience in such scenario when I was working as President of CCIM, New Delhi. Students from Ayurvedic medical college used to call and inform me about the condition of the college, Teachers and patients. Immediately I would carry out sudden inspection and would come to know about the reality of faculty and patients. During my tenure I didn’t recommended such colleges. But as soon I left the chair they got the affiliation back!

All the Doctors who put on paper in private colleges earn in two ways
- Practice in their own place.
- The money from colleges and experiences without work
Such doctors should be brought before the law and punished with laws such as IPC 420 and should be stripped from all his/her privileges including his registration from the respective universities and Ayush.
The foreseeable future of the students could only be revived with vehement protest against this system.
Only on paper students are also nothing less than an evil to the society as well as the Ayurveda . We will fight against them as well until they all get caught.
Government proactive cooperation to revive and secure Ayurveda is need of the hour. Each and every college to be inspected regularly with strict rules laid behind that is appreciable. Both categories should be punished those students studying on paper and those Doctors who are paid for on paper and more over the colleges that give in to all of this . It would become a turning point in the history and future for Ayurveda.
