Farmers Demand Removal of Delhi Police Commissioner
All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) has demanded removal of the Delhi Police Commissioner after court indictment in Disha Ravi ball order.
AIKSCC issued a statement saying that the police commissioner S N Shrivastav ,”be removed from his post immediately and given exemplary punishment for failing to uphold his constitutional duty to protect citizens and to act in accordance with law.
It alleged that the Delhi Police has become a tool of oppression of citizens and a den of lawlessness in the hands of the Commissioner,
The committee expressed satisfaction on a Delhi Court granting bail to 22 year old Climate Activist Disha Ravi in connection with the farmers protests toolkit FIR, shockingly registered under Section 124A (sedition) and 153A (promoting enmity) of Indian Penal Code.
Disha was illegally detained and incarcerated to undemocratically suppress supporters of the Farmers Protest that is sweeping through India.
The statement noted that the Court has scathingly indicted the Delhi Police and Central Govt and observed that citizens cannot be put behind bars for disagreeing with State Policies.
The Court also held that the much-hyped toolkit that Disha allegedly created does not reveal any call for any kind of violence and that offence of sedition cannot be invoked to minister to the wounded vanity of the governments.
The statement said , “the Sri SN Srivastava, Commissioner of Delhi Police has acted illegally and extra judicially by arresting Disha Ravi for supporting the farmers movement, which AIKSCC severely condemns and denounces.
The statement also said that the Central Government is trying to unconstitutionally repress and suppress the farmers movement and the Delhi Police Commissioner is a willing accomplice to the crimes of the Government.”
